Summary
Iori and Riku investigate an abandoned house along with the Shadow Boy's kohai, Yojiro Satake. During said investigation, the group encounters a Phantom named Sakabashira. Unwilling to summon Ongyoki in such a closed space, Iori summons a doppelganger of the previously exorcised Okubi and swiftly defeats the enemy Phantom. Meanwhile, a new Shaman is seen talking on the phone with Yayoi.
Plot Details
Iori tells Riku that he received information regarding a Phantom sighting, telling her that he feels influenced by her to help people. The girl is pleasantly surprised by it and gets pumped for the upcoming investigation.
The abandoned building.
Once they arrive to the place, Yojiro Satake, Iori's kohai, explains the history of the abandoned house. Iori then explains that Yojiro is a Shaman who specializes in gathering information. He then mentions that no other kohai stayed with his senpai. This reminds Riku that Yayoi told her earlier about only using first names, but Iori protests to that. When Yojiro opens the door to the abandoned house, Iori attempts to push Riku inside, much to her anger.
Sakabashira makes its presence known.
Inside the abandoned house, Yojiro explains the sightings of what seemed to be a girl Phantom. He also mentions that Iori wanted to know about any girl Phantoms, since one that fits this description could help him become normal. This makes Riku mad, since Iori clearly lied to her earlier. Yojiro's comment about Riku's presence increasing the chances of seeing the Phantom would increase didn't help the situation at all. In a last ditch attempt to look cool, Iori says he'll protect Riku, much to her unamusement.
Riku then notices stairs that lead to the attic. The group goes upstairs and Riku asks Iori if she should turn the light on her phone, but she gets a mixed response and asks once again. The group then realizes that they've been hearing something answering their questions for a while now. As the single-word response start being heard at a higher rate, Iori notes that the Phantom they've encountered is a Sakabashira. The Shadow Boy then explains that the house itself is the tree-like Phantom.
Sakabashira gets eaten by Okubi's doppelganger.
The Sakabashira causes the group to fall to a lower floor, so that it would have an advantage. Iori ponders how he can't summon Ongyoki due to the risk of the house collapsing, so instead he summons a doppelganger of the previously exorcised Okubi, using his Shadow Projection ability. Yojiro explains to Riku that his senpai can use the powers of any Phantom he's exorcised. After the Sakabashira begins chanting "Katanagi", he also clarifies that the Phantom is scared of Iori, because the Katanagi siblings are famous for their terrifying power. Iori then uses Okubi's doppelganger to swiftly exorcise the Skabashira.
Once outside, Yojiro explains that the reason Yayoi recommended to use first names is because certain Phantoms will attack as soon as they hear the last name. Riku then tells Iori to stop lying to her if he wants her help. The two then agree to help each other from now on.
Somewhere else, another young Shaman exorcises a couple Poltergeists as he talks on the phone with Yayoi. He calmly says that Iori's morals and awareness as an exorcist are lacking, expressing his hatred for him afterwards. However, Yayoi replies to this statement positively.
